Van Mahotsav is celebrated every year in India in the first week of July. To commemorate this festival, the Environmental Law Clinic of the Faculty of Law, GLS University organized the Forest Laws Exhibition “Van Mahotsav- The Forest Festival”. The Exhibition covered the various components of regulatory mechanism which are in force in India aiming at conservation and protection of environment. These components included the various statutes such as the Indian Forest Act, 1927, the Indian Forest (Maharashtra Unification and Amendment) Act, 1960, The Forest Conservation Act, 1980; landmark cases whereby the importance of environment protection was emphasized; various policies which have guided the government in this noble vision and also elaborated upon the various Environmental Movements which took place in the country.
