27 Dec 2022
FCAIT organized one day educational tour to Statue of Unity – The World’s Tallest Statue on 27th December 2022 for the students. The tour started from GLS University at around 5:00 AM with 49 students accompanied by 4 faculties. After having breakfast, the tour reached at Statue of Unity at 11:30 AM. The students were amazed to see the World’s tallest structure of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The statue has been built as an ode to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India. He was responsible for uniting all 562 princely states of the country to build the Republic of India. The 182-metre statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of independent India. The colossal monument towers over River Narmada, a tribute to India ‘from the people of Gujarat’ to the leader who placed people’s welfare first. The Statue of Unity overlooks the vast surrounds and the river basin of the Narmada River and the sprawling Sardar Sarovar dam. It stands on the Sadhu Bet hillock, connected by a 300-metre bridge, which offers access from the mainland to the statue.
The students visited the viewing gallery, located 500 feet above ground within the Statue. The Viewing Gallery offers a panoramic view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, its 256 km long reservoir, with the beautiful Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges on both sides.
Post lunch, the tour moved forward to visit Jungle Safari, which covers 375 acres at seven different levels ranging from an altitude of 29 meters to 180 meters, on the right bank of the Narmada River, near Statue of Unity. The park is a home to more than 186 species of fauna, covering various biomes of Africa, Australia, Asia and America. The safari route has been designed such, that the students were able to view animal activities, spot reptiles and watch birds. After enjoying the delicious dinner, the entire group moved towards GLS University, Ahmedabad. The students were amazed to learn about the magnificent structure developed at the venue as well as the historical deeds of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the time of Independence. The entire trip was filled with music, fun, joy and laughter.
