Dr Savita Gandhi

M.Sc. (Mathematics), Ph.D (Mathematics)

Dr Savita Gandhi is M.Sc. (Mathematics), Ph.D (Mathematics) from M.S. University of Baroda and A.A.S.I. (Associate Member of Actuarial Society of India by the virtue of having completed the "A" group examinations comprising six subjects conducted by Institute of Actuaries , London). She was awarded Gold Medal for standing first class first securing 93% marks in M.Sc. and several prizes at M.Sc. as well as B.Sc. Examinations for obtaining highest marks at M.S. University, Baroda. She was also a recipient of a national merit scholarship in her undergraduate program.

Dr Savita began her career as UGC research fellow at M S University of Baroda, then went on to serve as lecturer , followed by senior lecturer in mathematics at M S University of Baroda. She has teaching and research experience of more than 40 years by now.

Prior to joining GLS University, Dr Savita Gandhi was Professor & Head at the Department of Computer Science, Gujarat University. She also was Chairperson of Women Development Cell as well as Internal complaints Committee at Gujarat University. She also held additional charge of Director , K S School of Business Management for many years upto 2015 at Gujarat University. She was honored by Her Excellency the Governor of Gujarat State as the Governor’s nominee on the Senate of Gujarat University during 2010-2015. At Department of Computer Science, she initiated new academic programs : M.Tech with specialization in Networking and Communications ; M.Tech in Web Technologies; M.Sc. In Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Post Graduate Diploma in Network Administration.

Dr Gandhi worked as Principal Investigator for MHRD nationwide NME_ICT project under UGC namely “ePG Pathshala” for e-content development in the subject of Information Technology in 9 papers. A total of 326 modules have been developed under her coordination. She was also Principal Investigator for different research projects granted through ISRO. She was also awarded research project through DST, Ministry of Science and Technology , Govt of India under scheme Water Technology initiative 2019. Her main research areas are data compression, mobile ad-hoc networks, image processing Machine Learning and data mining. She has published several research papers in reputed national and international journals, has more than 70 publications to her credit with i10 index as 9 and has traveled widely in India and abroad to participate and present papers in conferences. She has also coauthored the book , “cryptography and network security”. Dr Savita Gandhi has been consistently a peer team member/ member coordinator/ Chairman for assessing the educational institutes under NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) guidelines. She has been member cum chairman of various advisory bodies, academic bodies and regulatory as well as examination bodies. She has delivered many invited talks and lectures at various orientation courses, refresher courses conducted by Human Resource Development Centre formerly called (Academic Staff College) of different Universities. She has also delivered expert lectures on different subjects at seminars, conferences, workshops and under TECHSAT project (Education through Satellite communication) of Government of Gujarat. She has coordinated and organized many workshops, training programs, seminars and refresher courses for teachers and students.

Dr. Savita Gandhi was awarded International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women for significant career achievements and contribution to society. She received Golden Aim Excellence award for computer education in 2021.

She is a senior member of IEEE and an active member of numerous professional organisations. She has been involved in IEEE activities extensively. In the IEEE Executive Committee, she has held the position of Technical Committee Chair. She has been invited to join the GSA Executive Council and has been elected as a fellow member of the GSA (Gujarat Science Academy).
