ENVIRONMENT LAW CLINIC (ELC)

Environmental issues are attracting world attention. Legal professionals have important roles to address the global issues. Environment Law Clinic (ELC) aims to provide a platform to undertake research, capacity building and engaging with the grass root people, industries and administrative authorities pertaining to environment Furthering its objectives, Faculty of Law Signed an agreement with Gujarat Pollution on Control Board to work in field of environmental conservation. ELC undertakes series of activities to sensitise the students of environmental issues.  Some are mentioned below

LEGAL AID CLINIC (LAC)

Faculty of Law (FOL) has a striking history of responding to the legal needs of the under privileged people. In furtherance of the same, LAC was orchestrated to help achieve justice for the indigent and weaker sections of the society. It provides comprehensive legal aid, legal advice and legal literacy in order to have reasonable access to justice. Recognising the services, Government of Gujarat allotted a help desk to LAC in Sabarmati Jail to provide free legal aid to jail inmates.

GENDER LAW CLINIC (GLC)

Gender Law Clinic (GLC) was initiated for reminding people that gender is nothing but a social construction, unchaining all the barriers by promoting gender equity and equality. The vision was to empower and uplift the marginalised and disadvantaged gender in India to live with dignity so that they can contribute as valued partners in sustainable development of the self, families and the nation. The mission of Gender Law Clinic is to support efforts of the state to create an environment for the disadvantaged gender that is inclusive, free from violence and discrimination and one that promotes their social and economic empowerment by creating awareness amongst them about their rights. Study the role of judiciary in the development of the disadvantaged genders of society and disseminate gender-based information and develop the capacity building programs related to empowering the disadvantaged genders will be major focus of GLC. GLC provides free legal assistance to the disadvantaged genders of society and generate new knowledge, strengthening the existing literature on gender studies.

GLC Activities:

  • Judicial Colloquium on the Theme - “Exposed yet Unrevealed: Reflections on Gender Equality”. All the sitting women Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court of Gujarat graced the event.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW CLINIC (IP LAW CLINIC)

Today Intellectual Property has gained relevance from a small discovery to a great innovation for mankind. IPR finds its ambit almost everywhere. With the presence of internet, the issues of infringement of Intellectual Property Rights of the less privileged or the non-law professionals have also gained pace. Considering this, this clinic was established to aid innovative and advanced academic research in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) Laws for the legal and non-legal fraternity. Further, conducting various training and extension activities for creating more awareness in the field of IP laws were the objectives. This clinic provides a platform for healthy deliberation, discussion and debate in the field of IPR and contemporary socio legal issues and challenges pertaining to IPR.

  • Special Lecture on World Intellectual Property Day on titled “Policy and Practice of IPR – Convergence and Divergence”, Key-note address by Prof. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
  • National Webinar on Contemporary Challenges of IP Law, Speakers - Mr.Vedant Pujari, Managing partner Accurse Legal, Dr.Sunanda Bharti, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, Delhi University and Dr. Van AnhLeh, Lecturer IP Law Oxford University.
